Job Description
8 Long is a fastpaced 35bed medicalsurgical Neuroscience unit which serve adult acute care patients.10 of the 35 bed are equipped to care for hardwired continuous epilepsy monitoring patients including patients with intracranial grid placement. UCSF Neurology and Neurosurgery rank #2 in the nation and best in California by the US News World Reportand is a comprehensive stroke center.
The incumbent will oversee around 80 FTEs with a $15 million operational budget supporting over 5 neuroscience service lines. Strong hospital management/leadership fiscal and operations management skills in a complex academic medical center is essential in this role.
NOTE: this position is eligible to qualified candidates for a signon bonus of up to $20000.00
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $253900 $269400 (Annual Rate).

The Neurology / Neurosurgery unit is a stateoftheart medicalsurgical Neuroscience unit that excels in offering exciting interventions for rapidly growing services including neurology neurosurgery and neuro interventional radiology.
As a Joint commission comprehensive stroke center current and progressive stroke treatment options are available to patients. Five beds are dedicated to the Northern California Epilepsy Program where patients with uncontrolled seizures are monitored to determine the best treatment options.
With a collaborative team approach the nurses on this unit provide specialized care to the unique neuroscience patient population. Through this units councils shared decision making has empowered nurse driven initiatives surrounding quality & safety in patient care professional development of staff and patient education & disease specific education is offered to nurses throughout the year by a variety of members of the interdisciplinary team.
The exposure to the diverse patient populations and varied levels of complexity in care provides nurses the ability to develop and hone keen assessment skills. The unit is fastpaced and highly rewarding with many hands on learning opportunities available on a daily basis.
