Job Description

Position Title:Seasonal Grounds Keeper Assistant

Department: Operations

Reports To: Director of Support Services

MayAugust

Parttime Position

Pay: $15.00 per hour

FLSA Designation: NonExempt

Summary: To help maintain the District grounds and sports fieldsof all District facilities in a manner that will ensure excellent and safe operational conditions without interruptions to the educational program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists fulltime maintenance personnelin their responsibility for the pleasing and safe conditions of all grounds propertyowned and/or operated by the District.
  • Maintains and adheres to all safety and code requirements of the Federal State local and Board of Education guidelines. Will follow all District policies and procedures for Support Employees.
  • Assists in mowing edging trimming planting conditioning or any other accepted horticulture practice.
  • Assists with transport and/or set up equipment for social athletic or other District activities as directed.
  • Makes independent on the spot safe to operate decisions concerning safety of students staff and patrons when necessary.
  • Performs preventative maintenance.
  • Presents a positive and professional image of the Maintenance Department.
  • Operates and maintains equipment safely.
  • Makes recommendations relating to the purchase of supplies and equipment and maintains the inventory of District owned and assigned hand tools equipment hardware materials and supplies.
  • Assumes the possibility of being required to be on 24 hour call.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Works well with both supervisors and other members of the team.
  • Maintains consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Performs other duties assigned by supervisor or administrator.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of two(2) years experience required in relevent experience or training. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Certificates Licenses Registrations:

  • Valid drivers license with good driving record.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups of employees or organizations.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform these operations using units of American money weight measurement volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to work well alone and with others as assigned. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education polices.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk; use hands and finger to handle or feel objects tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms such as to operate vibrating machinery. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee continuously use hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on to ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and truck more than the average person while performing the duties of the job. Duties will include outside work.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move items weighing up to 90 pounds. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as but not limited to tables scaffolds and cabinets. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the abililty to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee will work regularly outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechancial equipment. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products degreasers and sprays. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
