Job Description

Join the team! SARCOA is looking to hire a fulltime Administrative Assistant. SARCOA is the Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging and we serve senior citizens individuals with disabilities and caregivers in seven counties: Barbour Coffee Covington Dale Geneva Henry and Houston. As the Administrative Assistant in our fastpaced environment you will operate the telephone switchboard answering screening and forwarding calls and providing information. The selected candidate must be a people person as this position regularly engages with clients and visitors. Excellent telephone etiquette is required; high volume call center experience is a plus. Computer proficiency and organizational skills are also required. Additional administrative duties will be assigned when available such as scanning documents making copies and assembling folders. The schedule for this role is MondayFriday 7:30 am 4:30 pm. This is an officebased position with no flexible compressed or remote workforce privileges.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate the telephone switchboard.
  • Answer screen and forward calls.
  • Provide information to callins.
  • Assist lobby volunteers when needed.
  • Engage with clients and visitors in the lobby.
  • Scanning documents making copies and assembling folders when needed.
  • Maintain presentation of SARCOA in the lobby and glass meeting rooms.
  • Organize copy/mail room. Notate inventory needs and notify appropriate staff.
  • Process outgoing mail and distribute incoming mail daily.
  • Keep the kitchen and bathrooms stocked and cleaned with supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Prefer office experience with proficiency in managing calls; high volume call center experience is a plus.
  • Efficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maneuver complex situations.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Reliable transportation and current auto insurance.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment background check and drug screen.
