Position Summary

The Assistant Controller works in close partnership with the Controller to manage the financial operations of a business unit and deliver insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. As a member of the Finance leadership team this role contributes to shaping the overall direction of the Finance function within the organization. Leading a team of accounting staff the Assistant Controller fosters a culture of operational excellence accountability and continuous improvement in all areas of financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with the Controller to oversee all accounting operations for a designated business unit driving alignment with organizational goals and financial excellence.
  • Lead daily financial analysis and cash management strategies providing executive level insights that directly influence business decisions.
  • Lead and take full ownership of month-end and quarter-end closing processes to ensure accuracy timeliness and compliance.
  • Deliver high-impact financial and operational reporting to senior leadership supporting strategic decision making with data-driven recommendations.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance financial processes strengthen internal controls working independently to drive operational excellence.
  • Recruit develop and mentor accounting staff fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
  • Champion the integration of emerging financial technologies collaborating with IT to optimize system efficiency and data integrity.
  • Contribute to business planning and budgeting processes providing analytical support that shapes organizational strategy.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives representing Finance perspectives in strategic discussions.
  • Support special projects and business development initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting or other related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with seven or more years of comprehensive accounting experience
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations and statutory accounting principles
  • Ability to initiate projects solve complex problems and deliver results with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use business and financial acumen in goal setting and decision making
  • Experience in leading small teams planning and coordinating efforts while fostering trust and collaboration
  • Proficient in both verbal and written communication with the ability to present complex financial concepts to diverse audiences
  • Skill in attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy and precision in all deliverables
  • Skill at engaging internal and external stakeholders to effectively resolve issues and drive consensus
  • Expertise developing business intelligence and driving process improvements
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in a dynamic environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and financial reporting software; power query for data transformation power pivot for complex data modeling advanced formulas Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming and automated reporting capabilities
