SENIOR FINANCIAL OFFICER Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) will be responsible for the management of all sponsored research projects and nonsponsored funds for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering including both pre and post research administration and the overall management of funding from a wide variety of federal industrial and foundation sponsors with an allfunds volume of $40M in expenditures; supervise mentor and recruit seven finance staff members providing overall guidance on financial matters conducting performance evaluations and promoting professional development of staff; report to the Director of Administration and Finance and counsel them on overall sponsored and nonsponsored administration activities; collaborate to develop and implement DMSEs financial and organizational strategies; serve as a resource for support staff and faculty in DMSE; work with the Office of Research Administration Services Office of the Vice President for Finance and various central and departmental staff; understand the departments strategic and operational objectives; and understand principles and theories of finance administration with broad understanding of other related disciplines.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelors degree and a minimum of five years of experience in financial management with experience in administration of sponsored programs; demonstrated leadership written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; robust analytical abilities; ability to work both independently and as part of a team manage deadlines and stressful situations with composure and multitask; capacity to process detailed oriented work; potential to be a handson manager with demonstrated effective supervisory experience; financial experience at a decisionmaking level; and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Excel. PREFERRED: (Kuali)Coues SAP Cognos NIMBUS and QuickBase experience; and masters degree. Job #249289
