Library Media Specialist Grades K5To work in collaboration with teachers to help students become efficient users of information and to develop literary appreciation.
DUTIES & PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:- Foster an appreciation of reading and lifelong learning
- Provide an environment with equitable access to resources to make the school library an essential part of the learning community
- Collaborate with classroom teachers as a partner to design teach and assess curriculum using resources for inquiry research critical thinking and selfassessment that are aligned with the standards of Westford Public Schools
- Connect learning through the schools Makerspace as a result of student collaboration critical thinking creativity and communication (4Cs)
- Communicate and assist teachers and students with ageappropriate instructional tools and electronic resources and their ethical usage
- Develop and maintain resources appropriate to the curriculum that enhance teaching and learning
- Manage the schools Library Media Center: maintain a flexible schedule identify funding needs establish efficient practices and procedures and oversee the operation of the library circulation computer system
- Conduct annual library fundraisers (ex: book fairs) in conjunction with the building principal manage the library budget
- Assist the principal in selecting the Library Assistant and recruiting parent volunteers. Train and supervise Library Assistant and volunteers
