Position Information
Examination Schedule:
Written Exam: qualified candidates will be notified five (5) days prior to the examination.
Examination:
Written Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicants knowledge of supervisory principles; criminal justice information systems; legal terminology; customer service principles; court procedures; calendaring practices; standard office equipment; legal office procedures; filing principles and other related topics.Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards:High School Diploma G.E.D. or equivalent up to one year of legal secretary training and four years of secretarial or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.Applicants must submit all applicable diploma(s) transcripts license(s) and/or certificate(s) with their application by the final filing deadline. - Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification. Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.A background check may be conducted for this classification.Following an offer of employment you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.This examination will establish an eligible list from which one (1) immediate appointment will be made at the Kern County District Attorneys Office. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed.
