Job Purpose
To accurately manage and maintain records for Language Minority Students and English learners upholding the integrity of the districts data systems in order for educators to make informed decisions about necessary supports and services; to serve as a critical point of contact for students parents faculty and administrative staff providing essential support and guidance in relation to student placement student and family needs and compliance with district state and federal regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in accessing multiple systems and applications
- Strong oral and written communication; bilingual/biliterate (English/Spanish)
- Successful experience in collaborative work with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds
- Flexibility multitasking skills
Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and maintain accurate records for Language Minority Students and English learners | - Analyze and maintain a record of all Home Language Usage Surveys to identify students who are potentially English learners
- Prepare cumulative records for students in the ESL program
- Accurately create and maintain student records related to district state and federal programs in multiple database platforms and in hard copy format
- Retrieve student data from previously attended districts
- Monitor LPACs in ESL database
- Notify buildings about newly enrolled students

Coordinate ESL intake procedures for newly enrolled students | - Schedule and/or administrate language proficiency screener for newly enrolled students
- Retrieve and update student records with language proficiency assessment scores
|
Communicate EL decisions and language proficiency assessment results to parents/guardians | - Printing sorting and mailing Parent letters for all ESL Annual Reviews Monitoring and ELPA Eligible LPACs
- Distribute individual ELPA summative score reports to buildings
- Communicate with families in English and Spanish about ESL programming and placement

Coordinate translation and interpretation for district staff | - Collaborate with District Bilingual Liaisons to respond to interpretation and translation requests
- Utilize phone language line to communicate with families in languages other than English and Spanish
- Connect families/students with appropriate district departments and/or buildings
- Translate and/or check accuracy of machineprovided translations some documents
- Collaborate with bilingual liaisons to schedule interpreters for after school events including parentteacher conferences

Complete other duties as assigned | - Provide responsive support throughout the year for the ESL department or the ESL team and administrators at buildings particularly as related to ESL records and data
- Welcome families to Fayetteville Public Schools
- Work closely with district and school faculty and staff as well as community partners to support student academic success and wellbeing
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and respect for students families and staff
