Product and Pricing Manager

BUSINESS FUNCTION: Customer and Commercial
SALARY:Circa 55000 / ML2:SB1
ROLE TYPE: Hybrid (1 or 2 days a week in the office)
LOCATION: Leeds/York/Manchester
HOURS: 37 per week

Lead the Future of Pricing at Northern

Were looking for a strategic and commercially minded individual to lead the creation delivery and optimisation of our product and pricing strategy. As a key member of our Commercial team youll use customer insight industry best practice and data driven thinking to develop a portfolio that not only delivers value to our passengers but drives revenue growth across the business and wider industry.

This is a high impact role with a complex stakeholder landscape where youll lead a talented team to shape the future of UK rail fares in collaboration with Shadow Great British Railways.

What youll be doing

  • Drive the development and delivery of a data led customer focused pricing strategy that unlocks new revenue opportunities.
  • Embed customer insight into all pricing decisions ensuring regulatory compliance and early mitigation of commercial risks.
  • Lead and develop the pricing team fostering talent capability and succession planning in line with company values.
  • Own and manage pricing agreements with other operators PTEs and third parties to maximise Northerns commercial return.
  • Represent Northern in national industry forums influencing new pricing and product policies and overseeing fare change implementation.
  • Champion multi modal product development making travel smoother and more integrated across transport modes.

About you

  • You bring strategic thinking commercial acumen and a proven ability to deliver business critical plans that drive results.
  • Strong leadership experience with a track record of developing high performing teams and influencing internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical curious and customer centric you use data and insight to shape decisions and spot emerging opportunities.
  • Comfortable negotiating with senior stakeholders and partners with the ability to simplify complex ideas and drive consensus.
  • Ideally you have experience working in regulated customer facing sectors transport retail or beyond.
