DCAS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as Chief of Staff (COS) to the Deputy Commissioner of Administration. Reporting directly to the Deputy Commissioner the COS plays a pivotal role in advancing strategic priorities and providing highlevel confidential support on matters of policy and operations. This role requires a proactive leader with strong judgment and the ability to manage complex initiatives across a wide range of functional areas.
Administration offers support services to all Lines of Service through the tasks performed by several key units:
Agency Support Services: Manages agencywide programs such as PrintSmart.
CityStore: Operates the Citys centralized retail and gift store offering collectibles and official publications.
Human Resources: Handles personnel actions career counseling payroll and timekeeping.
Transportation Services: Manages a fleet of over 200 vehicles and supports City Hall automotive needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties will include but not be limited to the following:
Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Deputy Commissioner supporting the execution of agency priorities and initiatives.
Oversee daytoday administrative functions to ensure operational efficiency and alignment with organizational goals; ensure business operations are efficient and effective in terms of meeting
goals.
Manage and implement special projects from inception through completion troubleshooting and removing barriers as needed.
Prepare executivelevel reports internal communications and briefing materials in support of Administration initiatives.
Oversee the OTPS (Other Than Personal Services) budget for the division coordinating with Fiscal and Business Management to address financial needs.
Foster strong collaborative relationships across internal teams and with external stakeholders.
Attend meetings with and on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner and take appropriate followup actions; serve as confidential aide and liaison with other government agencies.

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory fulltime progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience requiring independent decisionmaking concerning program management or planning allocation for resources and the scheduling and assignment of work 18 months of which must have been in an administrative managerial executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and five years of satisfactory fulltime progressively responsible experience as described in 1 above 18 months of which must have been in an administrative managerial executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
3. A fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of
satisfactory fulltime progressively responsible experience as described in 1
above 18 months of which must have been in an administrative managerial
executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the
supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than
moderate difficulty; or
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 2 or 3 above. However all
candidates must possess the 18 months of administrative managerial executive or supervisory experience as described in 1 2 or 3 above. Education above
the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative
experience (but not for the administrative managerial executive or supervisory
experience described in 1 2 or 3 above) at a rate of 30 semester credits
from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3
years.
