Transformational HR Leadership for the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences

Are you an experienced HR leader with a passion for driving transformational change The University of Melbourne is seeking an exceptional Human Resources Director to join our dynamic team and lead the people strategy for the prestigious Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS) which is the largest faculty at the university encompassing 6000 staff 37 schools and departments 14 campuses across Victoria over 20 partner institutes and hospitals and attracting over 8000 students per year.

About the Role
As the HR Director for MDHS you will play a pivotal role in shaping the facultys people agenda fostering a culture of innovation and empowering our worldclass academic and professional staff. Reporting to the Chief People Officer you will be a member of the MDHS leadership team as well as the universitywide People leadership team and will be required to collaborate closely with faculty leadership and HR colleagues providing strategic guidance and thought leadership on a wide range of HR initiatives for MDHS and their extensive partnership organisations as well as the broader university community.

In this influential role you will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the facultys people strategy ensuring alignment with the Universitys overarching people and culture priorities.
  • Drive transformational change initiatives leveraging your expertise in change management and organizational development.
  • Provide expert counsel to senior leaders on complex people matters navigating challenges with diplomacy and strategic acumen.
  • Champion best practices in HR fostering consistency and continuous improvement across the faculty and broader University.
  • Mentor and develop a highperforming team of HR Business Partners cultivating an environment of collaboration and excellence.

About You
To thrive in this role you will bring:

  • A proven track record of strategic HR leadership in complex matrixed environments higher education or healthcare sector experience is advantageous.
  • Extensive experience across the full spectrum of HR disciplines including talent management employee relations diversity and inclusion and organizational development.
  • Exceptional change management capabilities with a demonstrated ability to lead and embed transformational initiatives
  • Outstanding interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust advise and influence at all levels.
  • A collaborative and inclusive leadership style fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
