SUMMARY
In alignment with the districts mission to ensure academic excellence cultivate belonging and inspire futureready learners the Multilingual Learner (ML) Specialist Secondary Focus is a critical leader in supporting multilingual students in grades 612. This role is designed to ensure multilingual learners feel safe seen and heard while building the skills and confidence to graduate on time and pursue their chosen T24 pathwaytechnical school 2year college or 4year university.
The ML Specialist works collaboratively to remove barriers foster belonging and promote high expectations. By coaching educators collaborating with families and directly supporting students the specialist helps cultivate a culture of excellence and ensures every multilingual student is equipped with the tools to thrive in high school and beyond.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Flexible hours required; this position will require attendance at evening parent/family engagement activities and home visits. Must have reliable transportation. Travel between schools is required. Work is performed in an office setting inside a school building with and without students present. Work requires regular use of a computer telephone and office equipment including and not limited to copiers faxes printers audiovisual equipment and filing cabinets.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach above and below their shoulders and bend/twist at the waist. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work yearare determined by thenegotiated agreement and the needs of the District.
Verification of identity and United States work authorizationmust becompleted before employment commences. The successful candidate for thispositionmust complete a fingerprinted background check with the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Employment is contingent upon clearance of the background check.
