What Youll Be Doing
CIBCs Global Markets business focuses on delivering expert financial and economic analysis and savvy dealmaking capabilitiesto clients in Canada and around the world. The Global Markets team supports fixed income foreign exchange commodities derivatives equities and growth markets and is focused on building a strong innovative relationshiporiented bank.
Join the Alternate Solutions Group (ASG) as a Director Data Scientist and make a meaningful impact for our clients. Within CIBC Global Markets ASG is dedicated to developing innovative technologydriven capital markets solutions. This unique organization blends the agility and innovative spirit of a FinTech startup with the financial strength and governance protocols of a major financial institution. Recognized as a global leader ASG provides disruptive technological solutions across various product areas including Cross Border Payments Dynamic Currency Conversion and Foreign Cash white labeling. Our diverse client base includes some of the largest banks in the world corporations and CIBCs retail clients.
We are hiring on the Conversion Services team a leading FX product portfolio in ASG. This team helps to enable international cardholders to pay in their local currency through various channels. These optional services provide foreign cardholders with the transparency of knowing exactly how much they will be debited. Since its inception the product team has built partnerships with 30 financial institutions to enable this white label solution on 100000 ATMs worldwide .
In this role you will lead build and manage a high performing Data team within the Conversion Services group driving datadriven initiatives that align with ASGs strategic objectives. Operating in a fastpaced environment you will be part of a dynamic executionfocused product team. Your primary responsibilities will include optimizing efficiency and accuracy within the data science team while driving revenue growth and delivering valuable insights for our clients and businesses. You will leverage your expertise in statistics machine learning and optimization to transform business challenges into effective data science solutions.

How Youll Succeed
Business Planning and Management: Youll develop and execute the Data team strategy aligning data science initiatives to enable ASG to achieve its mandate goals and objectives. Youll lead and mentor a data science team setting strategic plans that align with ASGs overall vision. Your focus will be on meeting performance targets that support the Conversion Services plan through datadriven insights and initiatives. Youll regularly monitor performance and market trends to provide valuable information ensuring that all regulatory business and financial reporting is completed accurately and on time.
Product and Process Improvement: Youll actively seek concrete and practical ways to enhance our products and overall value proposition for clients. You will review existing processes to identify areas for improvement propose productivityenhancing solutions and manage the team through the of these initiatives. Your focus will be on driving continuous improvement to ensure that our offerings meet the evolving needs of our clients effectively.
Relationship Management & Collaboration: Youll build effective relationships with internal stakeholders including sales delivery and technology teams as well as external clients to successfully execute initiatives and bring new clients and capabilities to market. Youll communicate complex concepts clearly and elegantly collaborating closely with business partners to understand their challenges by asking insightful questions and gathering necessary information. Your ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of business problems will enable you to address any questions or concerns raised by our partners ensuring alignment and fostering productive collaboration.
Leadership & Development: Youll build support and mentor a highperforming team by fostering a culture of knowledge sharing collaboration and effective problemsolving. Youll set the appropriate context when assigning work ensuring that each individuals role aligns with and supports the achievement of ASGs overall goals. Your leadership will inspire team members to excel and contribute meaningfully to the organizations success.
Who You Are
You have an advanced degree in Data Science Computer Science Mathematics Engineering other related field or equivalent work experience.
You have at least 5 years of experience working in an AI/ML Data Science or advanced analytics function.
You have 5 years of demonstrated experience working with modern data science machine learning and AI/ML toolkits such as Pandas scikitlearn XGBoost PyCaret Huggingface/Transformers.
You have demonstrated interest in Capital Markets. Youve built a strong knowledge of Capital Markets FinTech or the financial services industries which allows you to analyze complex issues and identify & develop innovative opportunities.
