Overview

A KS2 Learning Support Assistant position is available at a fantastic Special School in Ware East Hertfordshire! The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) particularly in supporting students with Autism Speech & Language Needs and Communication Difficulties at Key Stage 2 level. The school has approximately 100 pupils aged 411 years all of whom have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and assistance to Key Stage 2 students with SEN ensuring their individual learning needs are met.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the schools SENCO to develop and implement personalized education plans for students.
  • Encourage and facilitate inclusive classroom participation and engagement for all students.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment promoting independence and confidence in students with SEN.
  • Ensure to always be a source of social/emotional support for pupils and contribute to a welcoming school environment.

Requirements

  • Must have a current enhanced DBS certificate (registered on the update service) or be willing to pay for a new one 52.20.
  • Experience working with children with SEN particularly in Key Stage 2.
  • Knowledge of strategies and interventions for supporting students with Autism Speech & Language Needs and Communication Difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students staff and parents/carers.
  • Confidence and experience in utilising behaviour management techniques.
  • Relevant qualifications and training in SEN support and/or education would be advantageous.

Hours & Pay

This is a fulltime position working hours of 8:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday (termtime only).This is a temporary to permanent position. We offer a daily rate of 8595 per day (paid weekly: 425475 PAYE).A permanent contract is available once you have completed at least 12 academic weeks (and subject to excellent performance).
