Overview of OASIS
Walden Universitys Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS) provides academic support instruction and resources for Walden undergraduate masters and doctoral students. Following Waldens Success by Degree framework OASIS aligns our instructional support with universitywide degreelevel learning outcomes. OASIS staff members collaborate with each other and teams across Walden to connect students with flexible seamless academic support where and when they need it.
Overview of Role
As a member of the OASISUndergraduate Academic Support team the specialistplays a pivotal role in supporting the development of academic and professional skills among Walden undergraduate students. Specifically the writing and reading specialist will regularly provide support in asynchronous appointments live instructional events and the development of support resources. The specialist will also join OASIS and/or university working groups collaborate on projects and participate in professional development. Additionally the person in this role will develop an expertise in the unique needs of Waldens undergraduate students to help inform the teams vision and work. Key traits sought for the person in this role include being collaborative proactive flexible growthminded and organized. The person in this role will bring heart to their work with students and with colleagues.
Qualifications :
Minimum masters degree required in English Composition Reading Literacy or similar.
Experience working with students in a diverse educational environment.
Experience providing instruction tutoring or other student support in the areas of writing and reading.
Experience teaching and/or learning in online learning management systems (such as Blackboard or Canvas) preferred.
Excellent organizational communication and team participation skills.
Excellent problemsolving skills.
Experience working with diverse and/or underserved student populations
Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
Experience and/or training in curriculum design or development.
Prior experience planning and leading live instructional events.
Experience collaborating with others in projects and initiatives.
Technical savviness using virtual communication tools and online platforms such as Microsoft Teams Office and Zoom.
Adaptable to new responsibilities and initiatives.
Experience in providing detailoriented support such as editing or publicationrelated skills.
Ability to work independently and to collaborate in teams.
Availability to work outside of usual business hours including weekends and late evenings for occasional live instructional events.
Multilingual speaker/writer a plus
Additional Information :
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country the expected salary range for this position is between $49199.33 and $86253.75. Actual pay will be adjusted based on jobrelated factors permitted by law such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
