The Team
Our dedicated Indigenous Child Safety Team is an established group of professionals committed to providing culturally safe and traumainformed services to children youth and families. Our team includes five social workers a social work assistant and a roots practitioner who collaborate with various specialist including resource social workers child and youth mental health clinicians and community professional to support families in partnership with Indigenous communities and Elders. Together we work to create a respectful and inclusive environment that honors Indigenous knowledge traditions and practices.

The Role
The Child Protection Worker IVP (Intimate Partner Violence) serves families experiencing intimate partner violence with children and youth that are serviced through Circle 5. The work involves responding to complex cases arising out of intimate partner violence and child protection needs. The position is highly collaborative which enhances the ability to obtain information in a timely manner and plan for families proactively and efficiently. Those who are passionate about working with Intimate Partner Violence are encouraged to apply. The incumbent(s) must be able to work collaboratively while handling crises and emotionally charged situations.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements

1. Preferred Credentials:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Masters Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • Inservice Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 2430 base position that requires delegation under the Child Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
  • A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.
  • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ICES. You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

2. Expanded Credentials:

Human Services fields include: Psychology Sociology Criminology Anthropology Early Childhood Education Indigenous Studies Education Theology or Nursing.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until 01/31/2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
