Job Summary: Under general supervision the Certified Plumber performs skilled plumbing work in the installation maintenance inspection and repair of water gas sewer and drainage systems across district facilities. Ensures all work complies with applicable codes regulations and safety standards. Provides timely and efficient plumbing services to support a safe and functional learning environment. This is a 12month fulltime nonexempt position with a 40hour work week.
Job Responsibilities:
- Install maintain and repair plumbing systems including pipes fixtures valves sinks toilets drinking fountains water heaters and irrigation systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on plumbing infrastructure across multiple school sites.
- Respond to emergency plumbing calls during and after regular working hours.
- Clear clogged drains sewers and fixtures using snakes augers or other tools.
- Maintain records of completed work inspections materials used and repairs performed.
- Read blueprints drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff (e.g. electricians HVAC techs carpenters) to coordinate multitrade projects.
- Ensure all plumbing work complies with applicable health safety and plumbing codes.
- Assist with estimating labor time and material costs for plumbing projects.
- Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and functional condition.
- Train or mentor maintenance apprentices or custodial staff when needed.
- May be required to be oncall or respond to emergencies outside of regular hours.

Minimum Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- License/Certification:
- Valid journeyman or master plumber license/certification (as required by state or local jurisdiction).
- Valid drivers license.
- Backflow prevention certification preferred.
- Experience: At least 3 years of professional plumbing experience preferably in commercial or institutional settings (schools hospitals etc..
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of state and local plumbing codes and safety regulations.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools applicable to the plumbing trade.
- Ability to diagnose problems and make effective repairs.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with staff students and vendors.
- Basic computer skills for work order systems and documentation.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel materials. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
