Are you a detailoriented professional eager to kickstart your career in a dynamic lab environment Join our team as a Technician I in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital where youll gain handson experience and contribute to highquality patient care! In this role you will perform routine diagnostic microbiology mycology and immunology procedures maintain lab equipment and supplies and communicate with clinicians and students ensuring a wellfunctioning efficient and organized laboratory environment.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience
A wellqualified candidate will possess at least one year of experience in scientific research clinical operational or experimental work.
What you need to know
Salary: Starting at $16.00/hour.
Schedule: The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8am 5pm with some holidays weekends oncall duty and after hours.
Please note: Persons in this position are considered essential when the University declares an emergency campus closure class cancellations etc. and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless/until relieved by the direct supervisor.

Some of the Responsibilities Include:
General Functions of the Lab: Set up sample submissions to appropriate protocol for request records sample submissions and assigns a lab number. Perform bacterial identification and susceptibility testing PCR and DNA extraction. Perform immunologic assays on submitted patient samples. Communicate test results to clinician or student.
Monitor and Record Data: Enter hospital fees into the hospital computer information system. Maintains accurate medical records. Enter test results into the hospital computer information system.
Maintain Laboratory/Equipment: Order supplies for the lab. Help maintain and operate laboratory equipment. Perform general laboratory maintenance.
Facilitates Instruction: Assist Microbiologist with teaching duties.
