Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $22.53 $34.27. In addition this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors including but not limited to: scope of role level of experience education accomplishments internal equity budget and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

What you will be doing

JOB DESCRIPTION

The hands wrist forearm elbow and shoulder are critical to nearly every activity of daily living. When injury or disease of the bones nerves joints and muscles threatens their functioning overall quality of life is at risk as well. Hospital for Special Surgerys Hand Service is worldrenowned for treating children and adults suffering from all types of bone and softtissue conditions of the hand and upper extremity.

Dr. Robert Hotchkiss specializes in the treatment of elbow injuries (arthritis and contractures in both children and adults) hand and wrist injuries and arthritis and vascular disorders of the hand. He is Medical Director of Clinical Research and maintains an inclusive patient registry to monitor outcomes and adverse events.

A patient registry is an organized system that uses observational study methods to collect uniform data to evaluate specified outcomes for a population defined by a particular disease condition or exposure and that serves one or more predetermined scientific clinical or policy purposes. The incorporation of images as data is a necessary and fundamental change to improve verification documentation illustration and education. Although images are often referenced in a research publication the inclusion of the essential images that are contextsensitive to condition phase of treatment and ultimate outcome can form the very basis of learning that and learning how.

This project is to build technology and processes that acquire optimize aggregate organize and display images related to the care of the upper limb patient with injury or arthritis.

Coupled with methodological rigor and other features of clinical research we will integrate the source images their analysis and the reported outcomes of a variety of conditions.

The project lead needs to be a person with a strong medicalclinical background preferably in orthopedics and musculoskeletal care.

Experience using RedCap and RedCap cloud and other clinical research platforms would be an advantage though these platforms can be learned.

Research methodology including regulatory compliance IRB matters and research accounting practices will also be needed.

Because the system is being built weekly interaction with IT developers architects and data science professionals will be necessary. The Project lead also needs to be comfortable in an operating room environment and in an outpatient setting interacting with patients as research subjects nursing therapists and other physicians.

Some of this work is documenting novel devices that are approved for clinical use but nonetheless are in the early phases of use.

Interacting with device and drug companies will likely be included in the activities of the project lead. Because this is a new endeavor the schedule of work will vary as the projects needs mature and move from the prototype to the production phase.

The ability to use improvisation stepping in to do what is needed and unscheduled will be common. Develops and maintains SOPs and workflows

. Continuously reviews identifies areas for improvement and works to develop and implement operational efficiencies. Academic output presentations manuscripts and professional meetings will be a part of the work effort as well.

Skills:

5 years of Clinical Research experience including regulatory and IRB submissions.

Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and Clinical Trials

Orthopedic terminology is a plus.

Experience in study design analysis grant writing and publications

Proficient in the use of computers and software including Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint.

Experience with RedCAP; RedCAP cloud and EPIC EMR.

Experience with Imaging software tools.

Ability to analyze data and translate into both lay and scientific terms.

Ability to use technical ability to trouble and work independently.
