Education and/or Experience:
Graduation from high school supplemented by training in the assigned area of specialty; two years of experience performing public works maintenance including similar experience to that of the assigned maintenance program or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
Experience in asphalt work is highly desirable.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of equipment operation techniques and methods used in the area of specialization. Ability to work independently and direct and train others engaged in the area of specialization; operate equipment used in the assigned maintenance program; read and interpret blueprints work sketches and specialized maps; prepare work records and routine reports; understand and follow verbal and written directions; work safely and efficiently; meet the public in situations requiring diplomacy and tact; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Special Requirements:
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California drivers license and a satisfactory driving record. Possession of or ability to obtain a California Commercial Motor Vehicle Class A Drivers License with endorsements (air brake and tanker) and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of satisfactory completion of the probationary period.
