Reports to: Head of Media Operations

Team Structure: Part of the Media Operations team. Commercial watchdog focused on revenue performance pacing and campaign health. Challenges and holds buyers accountable; escalates risks proactively.


About the Role

We are seeking a Media Controller to join our Media Operations team a critical role that ensures the commercial and operational integrity of our media buying processes. This is not just about monitoring campaigns; its about actively safeguarding our revenue and overall campaign health. You will scrutinize the details spot discrepancies and ensure that nothing slips through the cracks working closely with our media buyers to make sure every decision made is commercially sound.

As a Media Controller your role is focused on auditing and overseeing media buying activities ensuring that campaigns stay within budget deliver on financial targets and operate with maximum efficiency. Youll use a structured datadriven approach to flag potential risks and issues early escalating them to leadership when needed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Audit Campaign Performance: Oversee the daily pacing budget utilization and revenue performance of live campaigns. Ensure campaigns are on track to meet financial targets and goals.
  • Revenue & Cost Oversight: Take ownership of revenue tracking for media campaigns. Identify campaigns that are underperforming overspending or experiencing inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Commercial Risk Management: Act as a commercial auditor within the team proactively identifying risks and potential issues that could affect campaign financial health. Flag discrepancies early and ensure solutions are put in place proactively.
  • Challenge & Accountability: Hold the media buying team accountable for campaign performance. Youll question assumptions challenge decisions and help ensure that campaigns are not only delivering results but doing so in a way thats commercially sound and operationally sustainable.
  • Reporting & Process Improvement: Collaborate with the Business Intelligence (BI) and Ops teams to define and implement new processes and tools that enhance campaign tracking and safeguard media buying operations. Take ownership of developing new systems and refining existing ones to ensure robust monitoring of performance trends identifying potential risks and driving continuous improvements in campaign efficiency and business value.
  • Strategic Insights & Recommendations: Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to leadership based on performance analysis.
  • Escalation & Collaboration: Flag issues and risks in a timely manner and escalate them to the Head of Media Operations ensuring swift intervention and resolution.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in Finance or Commercial Analytics: A strong foundation in finance economics business analysis or a related field. Minimum 35 years of experience as a controller.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of revenue management cost control and revenue performance. You must have a keen eye for spotting issues that could affect financial health.
  • Proven Analytical Skills: Highly analytical with strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets. Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI Tableau or similar is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: A sharp eye for detail ensuring no discrepancies or risks are overlooked.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Comfortable questioning peers and seniors constructively with the confidence to challenge assumptions when necessary.
  • Proactive & Autonomous: Highly selfmotivated able to work independently and take initiative without waiting for direction.
  • Prior Experience in Media or Marketing: While experience in media is helpful it is not a requirement. A solid understanding of revenue monitoring and financial control is key.
