About the Position
The City of Saint Paul Public Works Street Maintenance Division is hiring individuals to perform manual labor in the construction maintenance and repair of streets highways alleys sidewalks and City rightofway.
- Candidates with a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) have a starting wage of $31.30 $34.74 per hour.
- Candidates with a Class D Drivers License or equivalent and relevant work experience will have a starting wage of $25.76 per hour.

Heres what you can expect to do:- Work outdoors in all types of weather; nights weekends holidays and reasonable overtime as required.
- Perform snow removal and trash removal from the public rightofway.
- Operate and maintain equipment.
- Sweep and clean streets and performs traffic control in the rightofway for maintenance operations.

Street Maintenance staff rotate between two schedules: winter schedule (midOctober April) and summer schedule (April October). Start and end dates for each schedule are contingent upon weather. The shifts available vary and shift preference is based on seniority. This position will require you to work weeknights and weekend days or nights.

Position Requirements
Requirements may be met by one of the following:
Possess and maintain a Class B or ClassACommercial Drivers License (CDL) including a tank vehicle endorsement with no restrictions for airbrakes.
OR
Possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D or equivalent out of state Drivers License AND
Related paid work experience OR
Currently enrolled in a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) trainingprogram
Additional Information:
Must pass a DOT required preemployment drug screen and submit to DOT mandated random drug and alcohol testing after hire.Licenses must have no suspensions or revocations for drivingrelated offenses during the twoyear period prior to the date of appointment. Suspensions for parkingrelated offenses are excluded.
Employment in this job classification shall not exceed 2080 regular work hourswithoutobtaininga Commercial Drivers License. Failureto obtain a Class B or Class A CDL will result in termination of employment. Extensions due to extenuating circumstances may be considered.
Candidates with a Class D drivers license will be assigned tothenonCDL step ofthe salary schedule.The first pay period afterobtaininga Commercial Drivers license employees will advance totheCDL Holder Start Step ofthe salary schedule.
