About the role

Reporting to the Aboriginal Health Unit Manager you will be an integral member of a passionate team focused on providing culturally sensitive and excellent service to Aboriginal patients and their families.

  • Support Aboriginal patients primarily in the acute and subacute settings at the hospital

  • Assist staff to provide culturally safe and respectful care to Aboriginal patients and families

  • Liaise with key community organisations particularly Aboriginal Community groups and services

  • Contribute to achieving the outcomes of the Aboriginal health plan & national reconciliation action plan

About you

  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent

  • Experience in engaging with Aboriginal people in a health care setting

  • Able to undertake regular afternoon shifts

  • Willingness to work toward a certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice)

  • Have a qualification in Aboriginal Health/Education Social Work Psychology Nursing Welfare or equivalent. This is desirable rather than mandatory
