About the role
Reporting to the Aboriginal Health Unit Manager you will be an integral member of a passionate team focused on providing culturally sensitive and excellent service to Aboriginal patients and their families.
Support Aboriginal patients primarily in the acute and subacute settings at the hospital
Assist staff to provide culturally safe and respectful care to Aboriginal patients and families
Liaise with key community organisations particularly Aboriginal Community groups and services
Contribute to achieving the outcomes of the Aboriginal health plan & national reconciliation action plan
About you
Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
Experience in engaging with Aboriginal people in a health care setting
Able to undertake regular afternoon shifts
Willingness to work toward a certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice)
Have a qualification in Aboriginal Health/Education Social Work Psychology Nursing Welfare or equivalent. This is desirable rather than mandatory
