Job Description

FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU) a state and landgrant institution of the University System of Georgia invites applications for the position of Research and Grant Contract Administrator (PostAwards).

Fort Valley State University the only 1890 landgrant university in Georgia is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County the original site of the states peach industry. Its 1365acre 5.52 km2 campus is Georgias secondlargest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY:

The PostAwards Coordinator works to close out projects; works with Primary Investigator (PIs) to establish new project accounts; works with PIs to file electronic monthly and final reports; and revises policy and a policy manual on cooperative agreements teaming agreements federal and state disclosures and regulatory compliances patents or copyright licenses protection from research risks assurances and other assurances representations and certifications regarding product sharing equipment loans gifts human subjects animal subjects intellectual property and scientific misconduct.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide postaward conferences for principal investigators and project directors including requesting account setups assigning new grant numbers and obtaining access to the universitys financial system.

  • Manage financial aspects of grants including reviewing requisitions expenses and personnel changes including travel expenses cash advances travel authorizations and purchasing card statements. Track funding restrictions and ensure proper spending.

  • Provide technical assistance to faculty to obtain nocost extensions from federal agencies and assist with budget amendments annual reports and final reports.

  • Review negotiate and finalize grant agreements and subawards. Oversee the creation and modification of subawards. Manage subrecipient performance (cost schedule delivery and technical performance reporting)

  • Assist with time and effort compliance reporting.

  • Serve as lead to initiate Grantsmanship Institutes and/or conferences for the office each year.

  • Coordinate workshops or training programs (one to include the Office of Business and Finance collaborations) for all current researchers on the research principles for grants and revisions.
  • Update the OSP policy and procedures manual to ensure Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance for all federal agencies State of Georgia business practices manuals Title Ill policies and procedures and university and Board of Regents policies and procedures.

  • Attends meetings conferences and consortia assemblies where appropriate.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Sponsored Programs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field is required Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
  • More than two years of related experience is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A masters degree with 3 to 5 years of experience in grants and contract services is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for the mission and aspirations of Fort Valley State University.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of grant regulations (both federal and nonfederal) and funding sources to identify and secure funding.
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills are crucial for dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of and other submitting portals.
  • Proficiency in using computers and relevant software programs to manage your work effectively.
