POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Philanthropy leads the organizations major gifts strategy and drives philanthropic growth through relationshipbuilding strategic fundraising and datainformed donor engagement. This role manages a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects and collaborates with leadership to align giving opportunities with organizational priorities. The Director plays a key role in strengthening a culture of philanthropy that fuels missiondriven work across CHS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Leadership & Strategy
- Design and implement a comprehensive major gifts program focused on donors giving $5000 and above.
- Collaborate with the CDO and CEO to set annual fundraising goals and develop strategic plans to meet or exceed targets.
- Establish and track key performance indicators for fundraising progress and donor engagement.
- Philanthropic Culture & Community Engagement
- Promote a culture of philanthropy across CHS through internal collaboration and staff engagement. Represent CHS at community events and donor meetings reinforcing the organizations mission and vision.
- CrossDepartmental Collaboration
- Partner with program staff executive leadership and board members to identify funding opportunities and craft compelling cases for support. Support organizational campaigns events and initiatives by aligning philanthropic messaging with CHSs strategic goals.
- DataDriven Fundraising
- Use donor data and analytics to drive engagement strategies forecast revenue and evaluate program effectiveness. Maintain accurate donor records interactions and gift history within the CRM system. Generate reports to inform fundraising decisions and measure outcomes.
- Major Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Manage and grow a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors through personalized cultivation solicitation and stewardship strategies. Build authentic relationships that connect donors philanthropic goals with CHSs mission and priorities. Ensure highquality stewardship experiences that promote longterm donor retention and increased giving.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Demonstrated success in securing and stewarding gifts ranging from $5000 to $100000.
- Exceptional written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in CRM databases donor research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of major gift fundraising principles donor cultivation and donor lifecycle strategies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit and use their hands to operate a computer.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus while using the computer.
- The employee is occasionally required to drive distances of up to 250 miles.
- The employee is frequently required to stand walk sit talk and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in Nonprofit Management Communications or related field from an accredited university plus five years of related work experience in fundraising with a focus on major gifts; or a combination of education and experience to equal ten years.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Must provide proof of personal valid vehicle insurance.
