Job Description

Dual Language and Emergent Bilingual Coordinator

Credentials:

Elementary or Secondary Certification

Certification or Endorsement in Bilingual Education (preferred)

Administration Certification (preferred)

Experience Required:

A minimum of five 5 years of successful teaching experience.

Leadership experience

Experience with EL and Testing

Curriculum Writing/Data Analysis Experience

Experience in assessment

Knowledge of appropriate interventions at Tier I Tier II and Tier III levels

Education:

Masters Degree Required

Position Summary:The Dual Language and Curriculum Specialist will serve within the Curriculum Department and will work to positively impact student learning and achievement. This will include participation in school improvement efforts assisting with curriculum development and alignment common assessment creation (formative and summative) analyzing data providing professional development improving curriculum effectiveness by using data to improve instruction and instructional effectiveness.

JOB DUTIES

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • BilingualEnglish and Spanish
  • Strong academic literacy and conversational skills in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of dual language curriculum and instruction
  • Assists in planning development and implementation of the dual language program
  • Trains teachers on researchbased instructional strategies that support enhance and promote academic growth
  • Assists with selection procurement and disbursement of instructional materials
  • Works directly with teachers to provide resources materials and support in the areas of curriculum/instruction classroom management and effective learning strategies
  • Provide collaborative support to teachers through problem solving modeling lessons and scheduling opportunities for peer observations conducting minitraining sessions and 1:1 coaching with teachers/staff
  • Develops effective training materials
  • Develops scopes and sequences for content areas PK12
  • Develops pacing guides for instructional areas PK12
  • Aligns current curriculum into the instructional frameworks of the district
  • Align the instructional rigor level and depth of knowledge with instructional materials
  • Participates in and/or facilitates curriculum review based on data
  • Stay informed in instructional methods and educational technology
  • Collect data analyze and design and prepare various reports using software related to student demographic operations
  • Oversee Dual Language/WIDA Assessments
  • Oversee all EL programming and EL assessments
  • Create spreadsheets to track important school data
  • Manage and maintain inventory of district programs and successful use of program materials.
  • Provide responsible administrative support in such areas as compiling data analyzing data and preparing related statistical reports; compile and maintain various record keeping systems including maintaining records of a confidential nature

Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions:

In a typical Workday employee mustbe able to sit stand and walk for 8 hours. Job requires occasional bending/stooping squatting/crouching crawling/kneeling reaching above the shoulder and pushing/pulling. Job requires occasional carrying/lifting up to 15 pounds and occasionally moving tables and boxes of written materials or paper.

Job requires employee to use both hands for repetitive actions involving simple/firm grasping andfine manipulation. Employee must possess manual dexterity and visual ability to read write typeoperate a computer and to supervise. Employee must possess hearing and speaking abilities to communicate in person and on the phone both individually and with groups of students staff parentsand community members. Employee must have mobility enough to monitor areas of the building and grounds if necessary and attend meetings outside the building. Employee must have mental ability to communicate with supervise teachers/administrators and manage the district and to think criticallyand make important decisions under stress.

Job could require working outdoors if supervising or monitoring: use of and proximity tooffice equipment and occasional contact with violent or disruptive students patrons or staff. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by and employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
