Reporting to the Certification Officer Seafarer the Support Officer is responsible for providing administrative support and first level of governance associated with the issue of certification to seafarers in accordance with Marine Order 505

Requirements
Key duties and responsibilities
- Enter data accurately into the nominated AMSA customer records management system for domestic (near coastal) applications; maintain records in accordance with AMSA policy; lodge assess and process applications leading to the issue of certificates.
- Complete verifications of certificates of competency issued by AMSA or by overseas administrations.
- Maintain an understanding and knowledge of relevant legislative instruments (including Marine Orders); organisational intranet and website Seafarer Certification Service (SCS) procedures and Qualification Instructions (QIs).
- Provide support and information both verbally and in writing to ensure high standards of compliance and understanding to seafarers and stakeholders seeking domestic (near coastal) certificates of competency.
- Propose plan and execute ideas for continuous improvement and change management.
- When required assist the SCS staff in other regional offices.
- Attend and participate in SCS staff and team meetings actively contributing to continuous improvement and change.

People who are successful in this position must have the following prerequisites: Ability to use Microsoft suite of office applications Commitment to delivering high quality outcomes on time Working knowledge of computerised records management systems (preferably Content Manager) Proven administration experience and/or qualifications Strong numerical verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated aptitude for communicating information to a wide audience.
