SPANISH TEACHER
Elizabeth Seton High School (ESHS) is a Catholic secondary college preparatory school for young women founded in 1959 by the Daughters of Charity. Located in Prince Georges County a suburb of Washington DC the school attracts students from surrounding counties and the District of Columbia. Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic fulltime Spanish teacher to join our team for theschool year.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervisestudents in the classroom on school grounds and educational trips.
Responsibilities
- Create a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of learning that helps foster students intellectual social and emotional development.
- Provide daily instruction including clear learning outcomes welldesigned lessons and highquality assessments aligned with ESHS curriculum and standards.
- Demonstrate best practices in datadriven instruction including inquiry and handson activities demonstrations lectures and discussions.
- Effectively utilize school platforms (Blackbaud and Google Classroom) and ensure they are kept up to date.
- Serve as an advisor in the Student Advisory Program.
- Communicate regularly with families to identify students talents interests and needs and update parents regarding students achievements and progress.
- Participate in meetings with parents in activities such as Open House and ParentTeacher conferences.
- Active commitment to enhancing a school community through involvement in committees and student life activities.
- Participate collaboratively with the departments teachers in activities such as Open House Placement Testing and educational projects.
- Collaborate with schoolbased staff and throughout the ESHS community in staff meetings regular analysis sessions and professional learning designed to enhance students learning experience and increase student achievement.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- A desire to teach in a Catholic School committed to Catholic education and the formation of young women in Christian character.
- Ability to teach all levels of study from College Preparatory courses to Advanced Placement.
- Exemplary character and demonstrated services to others.
- Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate best practices in datadriven instruction including inquiry and handson activities demonstrations lectures and discussions.
- Creativity and an ability to collaborate with colleagues.
- Willingness and ability to contribute to an atmosphere and environment conducive to our girls academic spiritual social and emotional development.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in education in Spanish or eligible for a conditional certification in Spanish (native Spanish speaker Spanish major or at least 30 credits in Spanish courses).
- MA in Spanish or MS in Education preferred.
- Ongoing maintenance of all requirements regarding professional courses and inservices required.
- Prior teaching experience is highly preferred.
- Specialized training in teaching secondary schoolaged children is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to navigate school facilities and lead students to safety in case of an emergency.
- Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.
