Contract type: Permanent fulltime role would be based on 4 x 10 hour days a week on a shift pattern including some weekends and early/late working.

BBC South West covers Devon Cornwall West Somerset and Dorset and the Isles of Scilly. Our patch is just over 14000sq km and we have some of the most beautiful land and seascapes anywhere in England. We pride ourselves in making creative and engaging television radio and online material. We are looking for a creative and motivated individual to join our innovative and enthusiastic Operations Team as a PTO /edit camera operator based in our Truro office in may also be the opportunity to work in our semiautomated Mosart live production gallery and studio in Plymouth.

You will work primarily to our flagship evening news program Spotlight but there will also be opportunities to work on network news programming our weekly Political program and to longer form packages for our investigations team and iPlayer half hour commissions our digital and social media teams. We are truly multiplatform in the South West. You should be as conversant with shooting for online and gathering for radio as you are for TV.

Youll be shooting on a personal issue full frame sensor camera DJI Drone editing on FCPX and will have a vSat vehicle and Live U for live contributions.

This role involves a large degree of enthusiasm flexibility multiskilling and resilience which will come as second nature to you. You should already be an established proactive /editor with a proven track record of working in a fast turnaround news. Youll be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding of all the technical requirements around news production. As you will be working closely with the news production team you will be able to communicate clearly and assertively and respect demands of working in a fastmoving environment. You will often be working with less experienced members of the editorial and production teams so skills in coaching and mentoring would be advantageous. An ability to work in live prerecorded and often pressurised situations and a good understanding of health and safety guidelines is essential.

Experience or skills in other news production areas particularly automated galleries or postproduction would also be desirable.
