Job Description

The Lead Sponsored Programs Administrator is responsible for independently supporting the acquisition and nonfinancial oversight of sponsored research and other sponsored activity made to Lurie Childrens Hospital through grants contracts and subawards. This individual works closely with faculty the Offices of Research Support Office Research Business Management PostAward Financial Management and Research Integrity and Compliance to ensure successful proposal development and submissions. Additionally this individual be responsible for the training and mentoring of staff development of office SoPs proposal development assistance including interpretation of sponsor requirements budget review application document review communications with subrecipient organizations. Maintains a smaller but more complex portfolio based on a PIs clinical division or research program and works cooperatively among the team.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct training of Senior and nonSenior staff through active sessions and ongoing mentoring.
  • Development of SoPs for OSP proposal processes related to office policies and procedures sponsor application and management systems and regulatory oversight.
  • Provide interpretation of Federal State and institutional policies procedures and guidelines for Principal Investigators (PIs) their staff and Division/Neighborhood Research Administrators while also facilitate communications with grant making staff when clarification is needed.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and training to PIs research support and departmental staff on OSP proposal processes and policies.
  • Collaborate with faculty and research support staff downstream of the proposal development process by providing review of final proposal materials providing guidance on best practices and sharing templates and other resources as needed.
  • Provide review of proposal budgets ensuring agency compliance and accuracy prior to proposal submission.
  • Conduct final compliance review of Federal grant applications and upon approval transmit proposal to grant agency/lead applicant.
  • When Lurie Childrens is a Subrecipient on another organizations grant/contract award serve as liaison to lead entity for subaward/subcontract documentation and compliance purposes.
  • Facilitate JustInTime and other preaward actions requiring institutional authorized review.
  • Review terms and conditions of award documents from external sponsors for acceptance by Lurie Childrens Hospital. Negotiate terms and conditions in alignment with organizational expectations.
  • Advise Manager Associate Director and/or Director OSP of any noncompliance concerns.
  • Obtain grant submission systems accounts for PIs and other research support staff and provide training on systems as needed.
  • Support Manager Associate Director and/or Director of OSP in preparing reports on proposal activity for internal and external audiences.
  • Support efficient administration of the Office of Sponsored Programs by performing other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Education: Bachelors degree
  • Job Related Experience: Minimum 4 years experience required in research administration preferably in a scientific setting.
  • Skills/Knowledge: Experience with federal mainly NIH policies and systems related to sponsored research/grants administration. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team player manage time and multiple tasks set priorities and manage deadlines in professional manner. Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with external contacts physicians PIs and other internal personnel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (in particular Word Excel PowerPoint 365. Prefer familiarity with Cayuse Research Suite or other webbased proposal and award systems.

$76960.00$125840.00 Salary
