Job Description
Project Management & Coordination
The Researcher is responsible for conducting Research Projects across agronomy scope of studies.
These involve the following aspects of the research;
- Research planning and Initiation.
- Equipment and Research Materials
- Project Human Resources.
- Project Finances.
- Risk Management and Mitigation.
- Monitoring Evaluation reporting and project close out.
Research Development and Innovation
The Researcher is responsible for conducting research
development and supporting innovation. These include
supporting the following research aspects:
- Invention.
- Translation.
- Commercialization.
- Adoption and Use.
- Plans and executes research activities and procedure
- Ensure effective technology transfer through scientific and popular publications lectures seminars and congresses.
Research Collaboration
The Researcher is responsible for supporting strategic
research collaboration and collaboration opportunities.
these include
- Strategic Research partnerships / networks / collaborators.
- IntraInter Institutional Collaboration & Partnerships.
- Build and maintain relationships with national stakeholders and strategic partners to secure funds.
- Actively sources new national research opportunities and writes proposals.
- Plans and coordinates research with single or multidisciplinary team.
- Manage facilities and infrastructure pertaining to research activities.
Human Capacity Building
The Researcher is responsible for supporting Human Capacity Development that includes support of;
- Mentoring & development of internal staff at an appropriate level within or outside the realm of projects.
- Optimally utilise and supervise human resources allocated to relevant project.
- PhD (Agronomy Crop science or Horticulture) or Masters Degree (Agronomy Crop Science or Horticulture.
- Minimum of 35 peer reviewed publications
- Registration with a scientific and professional body will be added advantage.
- Proven track record for generating external income for research projects.
- Experience in mentoring students.
- NRF rating will be an added advantage.
- Experience in crop modelling will be an added advantage.
- Proven record of writing proposals.
- Valid EB drivers licence.
