Description

Project Management & Coordination

The Researcher is responsible for conducting Research Projects across agronomy scope of studies.
These involve the following aspects of the research;

  • Research planning and Initiation.
  • Equipment and Research Materials
  • Project Human Resources.
  • Project Finances.
  • Risk Management and Mitigation.
  • Monitoring Evaluation reporting and project close out.

Research Development and Innovation

The Researcher is responsible for conducting research
development and supporting innovation. These include
supporting the following research aspects:

  • Invention.
  • Translation.
  • Commercialization.
  • Adoption and Use.
  • Plans and executes research activities and procedure
  • Ensure effective technology transfer through scientific and popular publications lectures seminars and congresses.

Research Collaboration
The Researcher is responsible for supporting strategic
research collaboration and collaboration opportunities.
these include

  • Strategic Research partnerships / networks / collaborators.
  • IntraInter Institutional Collaboration & Partnerships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with national stakeholders and strategic partners to secure funds.
  • Actively sources new national research opportunities and writes proposals.
  • Plans and coordinates research with single or multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage facilities and infrastructure pertaining to research activities.

Human Capacity Building

The Researcher is responsible for supporting Human Capacity Development that includes support of;

  • Mentoring & development of internal staff at an appropriate level within or outside the realm of projects.
  • Optimally utilise and supervise human resources allocated to relevant project.
Requirements
  • PhD (Agronomy Crop science or Horticulture) or Masters Degree (Agronomy Crop Science or Horticulture.
  • Minimum of 35 peer reviewed publications
  • Registration with a scientific and professional body will be added advantage.
  • Proven track record for generating external income for research projects.
  • Experience in mentoring students.
  • NRF rating will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in crop modelling will be an added advantage.
  • Proven record of writing proposals.
  • Valid EB drivers licence.

A competitive remuneration package will be congruent with the scope responsibilities and the stature of the position.
