As a Software Development Manager hiring your team from scratch youll have the autonomy to shape your teams composition and structure for optimal outcomes. Youll lead a team operating with unique fullstack ownership model where your engineers work across both customerfacing products and core infrastructure. Your team will architect and develop customer touchpoints throughout the entire shopping journey from notification systems and interactive product detail widgets to sophisticated checkout flows and postpurchase experiences. On the infrastructure side youll guide the development of highthroughput APIs complex ML model integrations and largescale customer behavior datasets that drive decisionmaking across Amazon.

Candidates should have the technical depth to guide the design and implementation of complex distributed systems that run at Amazon scale while also possessing the leadership skills to grow and mentor engineers. They excel at working with small focused teams take ownership of their product and lead by example. The ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences from engineers to executives and comfort in pitching new ideas that drive business value are essential. In this role youll have the unique opportunity to directly influence Amazons bottom line while building a highperforming engineering team from the ground up.
3 years of engineering team management experience
7 years of engineering experience
8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
