Leidos is seeking a Transport Network Specialist to support related efforts for SMIT the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management Integration and Transport (SMIT) Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the NavyMarine Corps Intranet (NMCI) including cybersecurity services network operations service desk and data transport. Ultimately the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shorebased networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. The successful candidate will support network engineering for voice video and data communications (such as BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN cross domain solutions communications security and piers connectivity) in the NMCI network.
What Youll Get to Do:
The Transport Network Specialist will proactively contribute to the analysis design planning and ongoing support to NMCI transport areas.
Other duties include:
Provide solution development and engineering work for networking/transport.
Participate in the planning of upgrades replacement configuration and maintenance of networking/transport projects.
Assist in providing engineering solutions that provide secure effective and efficient operation of systems architecture and topology for transport.
Participate in new and existing IT modernization expansion and improvement projects related to transport for the NMCI network.
Collaborate with technical experts to synthesize solutions related to transport.
Participate in the analysis review and validation with customers stakeholders and team members for NMCI projects and changes related to transport.
Comply with ITSM processes and procedures Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance and Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239.
Support development and maintenance of engineering processes checklists and procedures for transport.
Shift 1:Sunday Tuesday every other Wednesday 0500 to 1700 ET
Youll Bring These Qualifications:
Requires B.S. Degree and 24 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience (in System Engineering Computer Science Information Systems Engineering Science Engineering Management or related discipline from an accredited college or university).
Two 2 or more years experience on programs and contracts of similar scope type and complexity.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active Secret clearance to start the program.
Technical knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas: BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN cross domain solutions communications security and piers connectivity networks designing/architecting
Experience working in large information technology enterprise environments
Handson experience in working with DoD networks.
Travel may be required.
Security or other applicable certification to meet DoD 8570 requirements.
