The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct service coordination for children in the NC InfantToddler Program and to provide supports to their families/caregivers. Service coordination is a critical service that is helpful for families/caregivers and it is also required by the federal law the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Services provided through the NC ITP must be compliant with the IDEA federal regulations and State policies and procedures.
This position as an Early Intervention Service Coordinator for children birth to three is located within the catchment area of the Childrens Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) of New Bern which includes Carteret Craven Jones Lenoir Onslow and Pamlico Counties. Duties include travel to and working with families and providers in the catchment to develop functional Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) work with multidisciplinary teams to determine families needs for supports and services conduct home visits coordinate and facilitate services and transition planning and participate in the authorization and monitoring of early intervention services.
The North Carolina Early Intervention Branch (NCEI) is a part of the N.C. Division of Public Health. It is the lead agency for the N.C. InfantToddler Program (ITP) which provides supports and services for families and their children birth to three who have developmental delays and/or disabilities. Research shows that birth to three is a critical time frame for working with families to support their competence and confidence as their childs best teacher because of what we know about brain development. This early learning offers a window of opportunity to make a positive difference in how a child develops and learns. The Childrens Developmental Services Agencies (CDSAs) the local lead agencies that implement the ITP across North Carolina work with local service providers to help families help their children succeed.

Management Preferences:
Experience with pediatric population specifically birth to three years of age.
Professional Credentials Required:
Must possess a bachelors degree which allows certification as an InfantToddlerFamily Specialist.
Physical Requirements:
Light work with some physical lifting. This work also requires the ability to participate in activities that are developmentally appropriate to infants and toddlers. Physical effort also includes being able to get up and down from the floor in clinic and family home environments lifting and carrying young children and driving car to home visits within the 6county catchment area.

Qualified applicants must possess and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:
Bachelors degree in Special Education Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education Psychology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional experience working with the population served;
OR
Bachelors degree in human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of professional experience working with the population served;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
