Duties and responsibilities:
Facilitate nonformal and formal Physical Sciences and Mathematics training sessions on secondary and tertiary level focusing on teacher professional development.
Develop and upgrade project training material regarding the integration of ICTs in Sciences and Mathematics teaching and learning TPCK.
Coordinate the SciEd Science Education Centre programmes and events which includes:
Liaising with the DBE schools teachers and other interest groups.
Manage the daytoday operations of the centre.
Keeping up the records for progress and financial reporting.
Marketing of SciEd events and programmes.
Financial control over income and expenditure regarding project implementation.
Oversee the training support and mentoring of science communicators at the Science Education Centre.
Do quality assurance of all educational resources including training material and interactive exhibits.
Responsible for upkeeping and maintenance of the physical resources including training venues interactive spaces and indoor as well as outdoor educational exhibits.
Willingness to travel to fulfil project requirements.
Willingness to occasionally fulfil duties after hours and on weekends as the situation demands.
Inherent requirements:
Bachelors degree or an advanced diploma/BTech degree/postgraduate certificate on NQF Level 7 in the field of Physical Sciences and/or Mathematics teaching or related fields.
A minimum of two 2 years relevant experience in Science and/or Mathematics teaching and learning.
A valid drivers license (attach proof).
Recommendations:
An Honours degree or a Postgraduate Diploma on NQF level eight 8 or a Masters degree on NQF level nine 9 in the field of MNSTE or related field.
Experience in science and maths outreach programmes.
Knowledge of coding robotics App and website design and maintenance and related fields.
Experience within the highereducation environment.
Knowledge of university systems policies procedures.
Member of or registration with a professional body.
A sound knowledge of the use of 21st century digital technology in the education space.
