Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as the Harris County Child Welfare Board to provide support services for children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the nowcounty department has expanded services for early prevention intervention and adult services.

Special Projects Case Manager Overview:
Under the supervision of the Aftercare Supervisor the Special Projects Case Manager position will be well versed in HAY Center services and will provide case management support to current and former foster youths and young adults between the ages of 16 through 25 as they work towards selfsufficiency. This position will be assigned specific job assignments for designated time periods to best support HAY Center programs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Wraparound case management special projects include providing intensive case management to address current and former foster youths transitional needs by engaging in program intakes case planning selfsufficiency assessments wraparound meetings and facetoface contact with clients on a consistent basis.
Workforce case management special projects include case management support to HAY Center youths and young adults as they navigate employment training programs.
Educational case management special projects include case management support to HAY Center youths and young adults by assisting with educational events (College Tours College Bound Experience College Fairs etc..
Housing case management special projects include case management support to HAY Center youths and young adults as they navigate the process of securing and maintain stable housing.
Teaches state mandated life skills curriculum via classroom setting during peak seasons (typically Spring Break and Summer) in six core curriculum areas.
Participates in and attends HAY Center events.

Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree majoring in Education Psychology Sociology Social Work Criminal Justice or other Behavioral or Social Science and two 2 years of fulltime paid case management (including case documentation) experience working with youth in a social service setting.
OR
Masters degree majoring in Education Psychology Sociology Social Work Criminal Justice or other Behavioral or Social Science and one 1 year of fulltime paid case management (including case documentation) experience working with youth in a social service setting.
PLUS:
Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel and Case Management Software.
Licensure:
Reliable transportation with a valid drivers license (Texas) and auto liability insurance.
Ability to become CPR certified.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of adolescent/transition age youth stages of development.
Follows written and oral instructions.
Possesses excellent organizational skills.
Must be detailed oriented and selfmotivated.
Must interact with all levels of staff.
Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
Works with limited supervision and independently in a fastpaced environment.
Maintains confidentiality.
Interacts and maintains professional working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
Exercises flexibility tact and diplomacy.
Ability to drive 15 passenger van.

Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. OR Monday Friday 9:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. (Some Saturdays)
Salary Range:
$50003.20 $53040.00 (Annually)
Based on 26 Pay Periods
Plus Mileage Reimbursement
Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
