Job Description

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL:Saint Marys provides its student body of about 500 young men and women a rigorous Catholic liberal arts and sciences curriculum a developed fine arts program a variety of athletics and extracurricular activities regular access to the sacraments and a strong retreat program. PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Maintenance Worker is an entrylevel role that performs a variety of maintenance and handyman work for the high school. They will be responsible for the daytoday maintenance and cleanliness of the high school in addition to light handyman work throughout the campus. This position reports to the Facilities Manager.

This position requires the ability to effectively communicate via phone and email; ensure that all duties are completed accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner; flexibility forward thinking and managing deadlines; willingness to seek the latest educational practices and implement; and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and a wide degree of creativity and latitude are expected.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assure that maintenance work orders are completed in a timely fashion
  • Assure that the school grounds are maintained in a clean and safe manner by mowing watering weeding raking and general trash pickup as required
  • Perform minor maintenance work throughout the high school campus as needed
  • Perform light plumbing electrical carpentry and other work as needed
  • Provide assistance for event setup and takedown
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies needed for maintenance and repair
  • Performs any other jobrelated tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Facilities Manager and/orPprincipal.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Experience with hand and landscape tools
  • Ability to safely operate gas or electric power tools and landscaping tools; experience with gas and electric maintenance vehicles
  • General knowledge of care requirements for landscaping and maintenance
  • Must be able to work independently and on a flexible schedule
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends
  • Must be able to perform strenuous tasks and can lift 50lbs
  • Ability to lift move and use ladders lifts scaffolds and other related equipment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand sit walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to stand for periods of time outside in the heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The position will require some evening and weekend hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

  • Preference given to a practicing Catholic
  • High school degree required
  • Experience preferred
  • Current drivers license
  • Receive Safe Environment Training and signed the Code of Conduct
  • AZ Fingerprint clearance completed
  • All completed prior to the start date.
