Job Description
SUBJECT: VISUAL ARTS PREK8REPORTS TO: Building PrincipalAs a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools you will be expected to provide rigorous instruction to the diverse population of students in your classroom. You will be expected to align your teaching to the district and state curriculum; to regularly assess students for learning comprehension and to modify your teaching to ensure that students are learning; to provide a classroom that is conducive to the learning needs of all students especially students who are learning English and students with disabilities. For applicants who are committed to the work of preparing Worcester students to excel in college and beyond we offer a competitive salary package and participation in federal loan forgiveness programs (more information about these programs is available on our website in the Human Resources section).ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks standards and the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public RESPONSIBILITIES: for remaining up to date regarding curriculum for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and for mentoring students understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction materials or assessments when for effective management of classroom for effective instruction which includes making learning goals clear to the students using appropriate instructional and questioning for using innovative approaches and instructional strategies including the effective use of technologies to increase student learning and confidence to for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning including for implementing specific strategies for students with special needs with 504 plans andor second language for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race color gender age religion national origin gender identity marital status sexual orientation disability or of other jobrelated duties as QUALIFICATIONS: DESE license in Visual Art PreK8 Endorsement DegreePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: experience in the content experience supporting students with special to speak Albanian Arabic Nepali Portuguese Spanish Vietnamese or an African teaching students who are English language experience with second language who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years). Candidates will need to apply for and pay for the DESE license as a condition of YEAR: 184 daysSalary scale shown is based on the candidate holding a Bachelors Degree.
