Job Description

Lead Teacher Supervisor (Education Supervisor)

The Opportunity Alliance is seeking for a Lead Teacher Supervisorwith our Head Start and Early Head start programs.

TheLead Teacher Supervisorwill provide leadership modeling and coverage as needed while holding responsibility for overall assigned classroom operations. This position will hire for and supervise preschool teachers Assistant teachers and any additional classroom staff. They will coordinate classroom coverage to ensure high quality education services and child safety and to allow for time out of the classroom for teachers to the extent possible. The Lead Teacher Supervisor will hold responsibility for the daytoday operational management of all assigned classrooms. They will work as a member of the larger Education Team to inform program design monitoring and programwide professional development planning and implementation. Work hours must be flexible.

Schedule: This is afulltime 40 hours/week salaried position.

This is a seasonal position working 48 weeks per year along with the school schedule.

*Some evening and weekend hours travel and occasional overnight travel will be necessary.

Location: Greater Portland area

Classrooms in; Portland South Portland Westbrook Bridgton

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; plus 35 years of classroombased teaching experience preferably in an infant/toddler setting plus 35 years of supervisory experience .

  • Experience designing and facilitating large and small format training in the areas of early childhood education and child development or related fields preferred.

  • Knowledge of the important role that culture plays in child and family development.

  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with complex information to address challenging situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to practice sound decisionmaking & good judgment in high stress situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

  • Commitment to social justice and the mission of Head Start.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background child protective service check & sex offender check.

  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.

  • Must be able to pass preemployment physical and TB screen.

  • ECE must be current on MMR and TDAP immunizations.

  • Must be able to exert significant physical effort with frequent standing walking reaching stooping bending kneeling crouching typing and frequently lift and carry small children or material weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primarily and essential job responsibility.
