Job Description

Our client is a leading Nigerian-owned technology company specializing in smart energy solutions metering systems and power distribution infrastructure. They provide cutting-edge products and services to the power sector including smart meters prepaid meters and energy management systems. The Head Engineer (Power Generation & Distribution) will play a pivotal role in providing strategic leadership and overseeing the engineering division operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering a world-class meter manufacturing facility that prioritizes flexibility operability and safety-while ensuring projects are completed within budget and on schedule.


Summary of Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Planning
  • Develop and execute strategies for power generation distribution and energy management
  • Identify opportunities to integrate renewable energy and enhance system sustainability
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in energy efficiency and system reliability
Technical Oversight
  • Oversee the design implementation and commissioning of power systems substations and distribution networks
  • Lead the integration of new technologies including smart grids and automation
  • Ensure robust predictive and preventive maintenance plans to minimize downtime.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Lead risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for all power systems.
Project & Resource Management
  • Manage budgets schedules and resources for engineering projects
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
People Leadership & Development
  • Mentor and develop engineering teams fostering technical growth and leadership skills.
  • Promote a collaborative and high-performance team culture
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Prepare and present technical analysis and project updates to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners vendors and regulatory bodies.



Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in electrical Mechanical or Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in metering power distribution or electrical maintenance.
  • Previous experience with handling contractors and vendors involved in running a manufacturing facility would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of international engineering specifications codes and standards
  • Excellent Project management and organization skills
  • Knowledge of international safety codes and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of power system design grid integration and energy management
  • Experience with SCADA systems power quality analysis and renewable energy integration.
