The Department of Corrections Division of Institutions is recruiting for multipleFood Service Lead position at the Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC) located in Seward Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Leads prisoner kitchen workers in the preparation and production of meals for approximately 550 prisoners and 30 staff per meal at Spring Creek Correctional Center in the APS main kitchen.
  • Maintains security and control of prisoners in the absence of Correctional Officer staff.
  • Ensures meat pulls are consistent with prepared menu oversees actual preparation and serving of food to inmates and staff.
  • Ensures that all modified diets are properly prepared for each meal which includes but is not limited to vegetarian diabetic allergy disruptive inmate diets religious diets and other diets as prescribed by the Medical Department.
  • Ensures the proper baking and preparation of all breads e.g. sandwich hot dog buns hamburger buns French bread wheat and rye breads as well as the baking and preparation of all pastry items e.g. cakes pies cookies puddings and breakfast pastries.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

The institution has a capacity of over 500 male inmates and employs approximately 200 staff. This position will be located in one of the three institutional kitchens.

A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
