Job Description

Overview

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Outpatient Therapy Clinic Prairie Parkway

Fulltime: 0.9 Monday Friday Daytime hours

The Occupational Therapy Assistant functions as an integral part of the rehabilitation team and has responsibility for treating patients requiring services associated with occupational therapy including infants toddlers schoolaged adolescent and youngadult patients. The Occupational Therapy Assistant is expected to communicate with the therapist and the Interdisciplinary team regarding the participants treatment and progress and deliver service in collaboration with the policies and procedures governing the delivery of participant care by department state licensure and code of ethics standards.

Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Utilization of appropriate Occupational Therapy Interventions to produce expected outcomes.
  • Utilization of appropriate and timely documentation. Communicates progress and status to participants and contracted health professionals as needed.
  • Adheres to professional code of ethics and state licensure laws.
  • Works within Supervision guidelines of Occupational Therapy Assistant in accordance to state licensure laws.
  • Keeps work area and equipment clean and orderly by maintaining and practicing department policies and procedures regarding safety and infection control.
  • Performs as member of Rehabilitation team through joint interventions communication quality assurance programs and meetings.
  • Manages and provides assistance with tracking of authorizations plan of cares and insurance updates

Quality of Care

  • Assists and advises front desk personnel management and supervising occupational therapist in development and implementation of quality occupational therapy services programs policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with other staff and caregivers to provide optimal care to patient including care coordination patient care conferences and scheduling and coordinates with occupational therapist

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • 2 years of experience working with Pediatric populations preferred
  • Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for workrelated reasons.

  • Licensed by the state of Iowa

  • Preferred Certification/Registration:

  • Maintains current CPR status.

  • Maintains current Mandatory Child/Adult Abuse Reporter status.
