Systems Development Engineer Region Services

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple Storage Service (S3 and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2 to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization youll support the development and management of Compute Database Storage Internet of Things (Iot) Platform and Productivity Apps services in AWS including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud paragraph

Our Region Services team redefines the way AWS designs builds and operates AWS regions to enable new AWS Cloud Infrastructure and Services offerings to customers across every industry and of every size including startups enterprises and public sector organizations. We are actively seeking experienced Systems Development Engineers with a strong background in automation and operations.

Must hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see job responsibilities
Support the refinement of system requirements participate in the development and delivery of operabilityrelated features such as system health monitoring diagnostics repair and other selfhealing automation
Develop or further existing application and system management tools and processes that reduce manual efforts and increase overall efficiency
Adapt and improve operations management systems and processes to accommodate rapid and increasing growth in systems and traffic
Participate in the design and of production acceptance tests and new hardware evaluations
Monitor the health of the fleet automating system health maintenance tasks and reporting systems as needed
Participate in oncall rotations to resolve incidents occurring outofhours.

About the team
Region Services provides the highest caliber Operational Solutions and Cleared Support for services within our Regions. We provide hands on keyboard support to our service teams by deploying changes into these isolated regions monitoring the results and reporting any issues that are observed.

1 years of contributing to automation for new and current system experience
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python Ruby Golang Java C C# Rust
Experience with Linux/Unix

Experience operating 24x7 highavailability distributed software applications and performance tuning software applications and optimizing fleet utilization
Understanding of network fundamentals (DNS DHCP TCP/IP routing load balancing load shedding) and experience with monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch Datadog Grafana Elastic or similar)
Experience scripting operating system tasks in Bash Python etc. and with Infrastructure as Code (such as CDK CloudFormation Puppet Chef Ansible or similar)
