VOICE Charter School is an elementary and middle school located in Long Island City Queens that serves about 650 students across grades K8. We are located just minutes from Manhattan (two stops outside of Manhattan on the F N and W train lines) and Long Island Citys growing waterfront district thriving arts community and rapid residential growth. We are looking to identify extraordinary educators and administrators committed to urban education who wish to join a dynamic professional learning community.

Position Responsibilities:

The Recruitment Table staff will provide information to potential families during select street

fairs acting as a resource to the application process for the upcoming school year. They will

represent VOICE and garner interest from fair attendees.

  • Street Fair duties

  • Attend select weekend street fairs as a VOICE representative.
  • Setup a table with VOICE information and branding.
  • Staff the table during the duration of the fair fielding questions from potential families and providing applications.
  • Collect contact information from potential families to pass to the Director of Operations for followup communication.
  • Communicate with the Director of Operations on the yield of the event.
  • Engage with the street fair attendees and attract traffic to the VOICE table.
  • Breakdown the table concluding the event.

Position Qualifications:

Knowledge

  • VOICE Values and core texts Rationales & Application to daily procedures
  • VOICE arrival and dismissal procedures
  • VOICE application and lottery process

Skills

  • Communication both Written: email procedural anecdotal & Verbal: formal and informal feedback public presentation meeting leadership expediting processes and giving instructions politely
  • Nonverbal: reading body language of both students and adults
  • Documentation / recordkeeping

Educational Background and Work Experience

Required:

  • Current VOICE Employee

Preferred:

  • Experience working in an urban school setting
  • VOICE Employee for at least one year
