Job Description

The Position
USC Student Life is conducting a search for a Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life. This position reports to the Associate Vice Provost for Student Life. The incumbent will be responsible for the oversight and leadership of the fraternity & sorority community as well as serve as the primary representative for the universitys fraternity & sorority system to external constituencies (alumni advisors housing corporations community leaders etc..

Duties and Responsibilities
Provide vision and leadership for the Office for Fraternity and Sorority Life the fraternity and sorority community and related issues and initiatives.
Lead the community in new and innovative ideas to support the needs of the fraternity and sorority community including leadership development risk reduction prevention education and overall student development.
Chair the Fraternity and Sorority Strategic Leadership Committee and implement and track recommendations.
Design implement and assess meaningful educational programing to minimize risk and enhance the student experience.
Build enhance and maintain relationships with chapter advisors national offices university partners parents and other constituents.
Supervise evaluate and coach two full time professional staff two graduate assistants and multiple student staff.
Oversee and coordinate the advisement and leadership of all fraternity & sorority councils including Interfraternity Council (IFC) National PanHellenic Council (NPHC) Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) Panhellenic Council (PHC) and Asian Greek Council (AGC).
Administer and oversee all operational functions of the department including budget management and multiple gift accounts.
Coordinate risk management efforts including but limited to Fraternity and Sorority Life Event Hosting Education programs and ongoing prevention education initiatives.
Responsible for recognition process and tracking of fraternity and sorority standards and accreditation.
Oversee weekly pre and post event meetings with an eye to risk mitigation education and event safety.
Cultivate a culture of evidence and lead efforts for assessment of student learning outcomes in the fraternity and sorority community.
Responsible for implementation of AB 524 the CampusRecognized Sorority and Fraternity Transparency Act.
Serve on university and division committees relevant for Fraternity and Sorority Life.
Cultivate strong collaborative partnerships with university stakeholders including the Department of Public Safety Fire Safety EEOTIX Crisis Support & Intervention and other key units.
Participate in Student Life initiatives including but not limited to Director meetings the Trojan Welcome Experience and the Student Life Free Expression Committee.
Will receive after hours calls if an emergency occurs in a chapter facility.

Preferred Qualifications
Significant expertise in college fraternity and sorority systems and current topics in student life in higher education
Demonstrated experience in community building and engaging multiple key stakeholders
Experience supervising fulltime staff
Excellent interpersonal skills and conflict resolution techniques
Extensive experience in the preparation and presentation of educational and leadership workshops
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal state and local laws ordinances rules and regulations as well as knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University and (inter)national council policies procedures principles and practices.
Ability to take initiative balance competing priorities and exercise sound judgment under pressure.
Demonstrated cultural competence including proven effectiveness in serving the needs of undergraduate student population
The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to contribute to this positive collaborative team culture. In addition the successful candidate must demonstrate through ideas words and actions a strong commitment to USCs Unifying Values.

Preferred Education:
Masters degree.
Preferred Experience:
7 years progressively increasing responsibility in fraternity and sorority life.

Minimum Education:
Bachelors degree.
Minimum Experience:
5 years in progressively increasing responsibility in fraternity and sorority life.

Limited relocation assistance may be provided.

The annual base salary range for this position is $76517.81 $108859.00. When extending an offer of employment the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates work experience education/training key skills internal peer equity federal state and local laws contractual stipulations grant funding as well as external market and organizational considerations.
