We are looking for a FCA Compliance Manager who can help us deliver our mission to make it seamless for individuals and businesses to transition to zerocarbon driving.

This is a temporary contract for a minimum of 12 months covering one of the existing team as they head off on maternity leave. There will be a period of handover with the existing manager so that you can get uptospeed with their responsibilities. Youll also be helping us to support the business to grow by getting stuck into existing team priorities and projects.

You will report to the Head of Risk and Compliance (SMF16 and work with a team of five Risk Compliance and Financial Crime Managers and Analysts.

The role requires an experienced FCA compliance professional with a solid understanding of the FCA regime the regulatory landscape and financial services legislation. A consumer credit background as well as a strong understanding of SM&CR is preferred but candidates will be considered from any financial services background.

In addition the role requires someone who is comfortable feeding into and delivering against a compliance plan working both independently and as part of a team as well as someone detail focused and capable of building good working relationships as part of a second line function in a business that is rapidly scaling. This is a fast paced environment and one allowing lots of opportunity for growth if youre prepared to get stuck in.

The role is hybrid and youll be expected in the London office at least 1 day a week with occasional trips required to other regional offices (currently Weybridge and Brighton). What youll do...

    • Collaborate on deliver and continually strengthen our risk and compliance strategy and framework
    • Lead and report on our risk and compliance monitoring and advisory programs including delivering monitoring reviews
    • Oversee annual fit and proper assessments under the FCAs SM&CR
    • Produce timely and accurate risk and compliance management information to support the Risk and Compliance Committee and the Board
    • Ensure that our governance framework evolves alongside the business and that we have appropriate and uptodate policies processes and internal reporting
    • Ensure that all FCA reporting requirements and communications are handled appropriately and promptly; this includes completing reporting in Reg Data and supporting applications on the FCA Connect platform
    • Keep abreast of regulatory requirements and changes and ensure that the firms horizon scanning and regulatory change programme is forward looking
    • Deliver risk and compliance training to the business and report on the risk and compliance mandatory training programme
    • Be a key point of contact for the business on all risk and compliance matters
    • Build strong collaborative relationships with other oversight functions not just in Electric Vehicles but across the Octopus Energy Group

What youll need...

    • 4 years experience within a second line FCA regulated risk and compliance function
    • A love of building customer centric products and services
    • A strong understanding of the FCAs CONC; DISP; PROD; PRIN COCON and SYSC handbooks alongside a strong understanding of the FCAs expectations in relation to Consumer Duty and vulnerable customers
    • Previous experience of providing both compliance advice and delivering compliance monitoring work
    • Excellent written and presentation skills alongside a keen eye for detail
    • Strong stakeholder management and the ability to tailor information to the audience
    • Strong change and project management skills including the ability to manage time well prioritise effectively and handle multiple deadlines whilst working with (and directing) hybrid teams
    • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
    • Ability to problem solve and to suggest and implement solutions
    • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams across the business
    • A passion for personal development and for driving better ways of working; youll need to get stuck into a variety of areas as we build and evolve the function
    • In addition the following are desirable:
    • A strong working knowledge of the FCA regulations for consumer hire and insurance distribution
      Prior experience with appointed representatives
      Risk management experience for example with RCSAs and risk registers
