Position Overview
QinetiQ Inc. is seeking a MidLevel Software (SW) Engineer to support the software integration quality assurance delivery and sustainment of a Counter Unmanned Aerial System (cUAS) for our Digital Night Vision Technology (DNVT) customer at Fort Belvoir VA. As a key member of the SW team the ideal candidate will be responsible for applying Agile best practices in the management of a predeveloped Government Owned Code Base within the Governments GitLab DevOps environment and work with fellow QinetiQ engineers and other Key Stakeholders in supporting the software and technical efforts of our Belvoir customer.
Responsibilities
- Support the integration of additional technologies into the digital cUAS systems including sensor and effector systems. This includes the development of software subsystems such as sensor data parsers sensor action and response cores software infrastructure support and soldier identified user interface enhancements
- Support digital cUAS sensor fusion and sensor/effector capabilities related to algorithm improvements from parsed sensor data
- Support enhancements to digital cUAS Threat prediction capabilities that provide target threat level information to the operator and other components of digital cUAS systems that consume this information
- Support digital cUAS Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) user interface enhancement
- Providing support to on site and remote data collection testing and demonstration events
- Support the Agile release of SW updates
- Provide virtual and/or onsitetroubleshooting and technical assistance to ensure digital cUAS system functionality or to integrate additional digital cUAS system components
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in an engineering discipline or Computer Scienceor5 years of equivalent experience in either Software Engineering or supporting MLOps DevOps or application development roles with experience with developing in Python Java or C
- Experience in design integration and test of complex military systems with a preference to experience with data fusion of multiple sensor inputs ranging from optics such as EO/IR SWIR and MWIR to active and passive radars
- Experience with data fusion and state estimation including Kalman filter SLAM and signal processing
- Experience with natural language processing deep learning or computer vision project work
- Experience with system integration using a variety of protocols including JSON REST and XML
- Live in the National Capital Region and work on site 5 days a weeks at the customer site on Fort Belvoir VA or at the QinetiQ office in Lorton VA. Remote work will be permittedon a case by case basis and at the discretionof the Government and/or PM
- Experience with DHS DoD or industry for major systems or programs.
- Up to 20 travel may be required
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
