Job Description

TITLE: CTE Student Services Coordinator
CTE Endorsement Area: 309
*** Special Note:
This is an AddOn endorsement that can only be earned by qualified candidates who currently hold a valid 5 year
Mississippi Educator License in one of the Endorsement Areas listed below.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in education with a teacher license in one of the following and at least three 3
years teaching in one of the following:

Applicant must validate technology competency by attaining the established minimum score or higher on
an assessment approved by the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE). The assessment must be
directly related to technology competency required by the grade level and subject matter being taught.
Approved assessments for this license are IC3 or other approved MDE substitute.
Applicant must successfully complete a Certificate for online learning workshop module or course that
is approved by the Mississippi Department of Education. (Exception: Educators with a fiveyear 309
endorsement do not have to complete this requirement.
Completion of an approved three 3 semester credit course in History Philosophy or Principles of
Vocational Education OR completion of the comparable education module at the RCU at MSU.


REPORTS TO: CTE Director
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB GOALS:
Identify and assess special populations students.
Provide additional educational instruction and developmental services to special populations students as identified
through assessment.
Provide appropriate career and technical assessment of interests abilities aptitudes and specific needs of special
populations students.
Ensure that special populations students are provided equal access to recruitment enrollment retention completion
placement activities and preparatory and support services.
Support special populations students with services such as (a) curriculum classroom and equipment modifications;
(b) supportive personnel; (c) instructional aids and devices; (d) academic assistance; (e) equal access to nontraditional

education and training programs preemployment services etc.; (f) attending conferences and conventions of career
tech programs; and (g) attending IEP meetings and parent/teacher conferences of careertech students.

Provide transitional information and services for all special populations students.
Assist special populations students in the achievement and mastery of necessary skills and explanations required for
them to be successful in their career and technical programs.
Provide services to prepare special populations students for nontraditional education training and employment in
highskill highwage highdemand occupations.
Maintain secure records and documentation detailing services and activities provided to special population students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstration of Professionalism
Use correct oral and written communication.
Demonstrates professionalism and high ethical standards: act in alignment with Mississippi Code of Ethics.
Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with students parents/guardians and educational staff.
Engage in continuous professional development and apply new information.
Collaborate with colleagues and actively participate in the professional learning community within the school/district.
Stay current on best practices legal concerns and training through membership and involvement in professional
organizations.
Program Management Development and Data Analysis
Use data to create and maintain smallgroup remediation sessions.
Identify and analyze school data to develop comprehensive programs that meet student needs measure program
results and guide program evaluation and improvement.
Collect and use data to develop program goals and share goals with all stakeholders.
Analyze data on how time is used and adjust program delivery to meet student needs as demonstrated in school data.
Plan college and career readiness activities which involves all stakeholders.
Demonstrate evidence of organizational skills
Publish and distribute a master calendar of activities relevant to college and career readiness on a weekly monthly
and annual basis.
Provide individual and group college and career readiness prep sessions to students with identified concerns and
needs.
Provide time for teacher referred selfreferred atrisk students and crisis counseling (including transfers dropouts
etc..
Provide appraisal and advisement of assist all students with academic career and personal/social planning (ICAP
career planning aligned with MS Career Pathways college/career fairs job shadowing etc..
Conduct an interview and followup of newly enrolled students and parents.
Provide indirect student services on behalf of identified students: strategies to include referrals consultation and
collaboration.
Consult with parents and other educators to share strategies that support student achievement and success (i.e.
Student/Teacher Support Team).
Collaborate with parents other educators and resources to support student achievement and success.
Assist in appropriate placement of students with special needs.
Refer students and parents to appropriate school and community resources to support student achievement and
success.
Communication /Collaboration
Share student academic track data with parents and guardians.
In collaboration with parents or guardians help students establish goals and develop/use planning skills.
Establish and convene an Advisory Committee.
Establish and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
PostSecondary Planning (Secondary)
Inform and make students aware of enrichment programs scholarships and grants available in a timely manner (high
schools only).
Keep record of postsecondary plans of CTE graduating seniors.
Monitor the completion of Career Plans and activities in MS Choices including the plan of study.
Coordinate ACT preparation for CTE students at least twice a year in collaboration with the CTE Counselor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year established by SCCSD School Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated biannually by the Superintendent.
