About the BCLDB:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and nonmedical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The LDB is committed to governments goals of making life better for people in B.C. improving services and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. LDBs Information Technology (IT) team consists of 7 competency areas: Customer Experience Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) Information Security Enterprise Architecture Software Services Data Services and IT Program Governance. Currently 5 divisions managed by IT Directors collectively are responsible for all the 7 competency areas to deliver the IT mandate of supporting LDBs corporate and business operations and enabling future needs and initiatives.

At present the IT team consists of more than 260 fulltime employees and includes a sourcing strategy to leverage external expertise to ensure the integrated IT team continues to deliver LDBs strategic initiatives timely and in high quality.

The IT department of the LDB is responsible for the entire computing infrastructure for all the 230 BC Liquor Stores BC Cannabis Stores as well as LDBs head office in Burnaby and 4 Warehouse/Distribution Centres including Delta Kamloops Richmond and Victoria. IT department also manages three data centres located in Burnaby Delta and Kamloops.

About this role:

Reporting to the Manager Network Engineering the Senior Network Analyst (SNA) acts as a subject matter expert and leads the planning network design and related communication services for the BCLDB and its distinct lines of business such as Cannabis and Liquor retail Cannabis and Liquor Distribution Cannabis and Liquor Wholesale Ecommerce sites Finance HR IT Onpremise Data Centres and cloud based infrastructure.

The Senior Network Analyst provides Tier 3 troubleshooting and leads the research planning design evaluation implementation and operation of the BCLDBs data and voice networks which are completely independent of the BC Government network. The Senior Network Analyst is expected to be able to be able to predict trends and work closely with the managers to keep the BCLDB Networks capable of meeting all current and intermediate future needs 35 yrs).

The technologies the Senior Network Analyst is expected work with include but not limited to: Physical cabling Routers Switches Wireless Controllers and Wireless Access Points VOIP systems Load Balancers DNS Virtualization (Software Defined Networks Software Defined WAN cloud etc. Virtual Private Networks Network Segmentation Packet Analyzers Monitoring and Performance tools etc.

The Senior Network Analyst will work on cloud technologies for software as a service (SAAS) cloud network standards Platform as a service (PAAS) and Infrastructure as a service (IAAS). The technologies include but are not limited to: application load balancers vnets routes dns software defined wan (sdwan) network scripting and automation.

The Senior Network Analyst is expected to perform some supervisory duties with the Network Analysts and to interact closely with leads in other areas of the business.

To accomplish objectives the position develops and maintains professional relationships within IT with lines of business with external contractors and vendors.

Work occurs during core business hours; however the position is expected to adjust to business requirements. The BCLDB at times operates at 24hrs per day 7 days a week and staff may be subject to shift work. Must be available 24 X 7 for critical incident response. May perform Occasional heavy lifting of equipment and Occasional highaltitude work in the warehouses. Must have the ability to travel overnight within the Province of British Columbia.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

A degree or diploma in computer science or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of recent related experience*; OR

A combination of education training and experience may be considered i.e. 3 years of recent related experience* with formal course work and/or certifications OR 5 years recent related experience*.

* Recent related experience must have occurred in the last 10 years and must include the below.
