Job Description
The University of Chicagos Department of Medicine Section of Cardiology is searching for a fulltime Associate Professor or Professor to serve as the Director of the Adult Echocardiography Laboratory. The appointee will join and lead an established group of nationally and internationally renowned physicians researchers and educators in the field of cardiac ultrasound imaging. In conjunction with other leaders in the Section of Cardiology and the Heart and Vascular Center the Director is expected to expand clinical research and to develop strategies for increasing patient referrals and procedure volumes. The Adult Echocardiography Laboratory at the University of Chicago has a longstanding tradition of excellence in a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including transthoracic and transesophageal imaging as well as guidance of structural heart disease repair.
Clinical responsibilities include review and interpretation of cardiac ultrasound images performing transesophageal echocardiography examinations outpatient cardiology clinic inpatient services and consults as well as supervising activities of satellite echocardiography laboratories. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of fellows and students as well as scholarly activities.
Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of employee benefits) are dependent on qualifications.
Prior to the start of employment qualified applicants must: 1 have a medical doctorate (MD) or equivalent degree 2 hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois 3 be board certified in internal medicine and in cardiovascular disease 4 be board certified or eligible in echocardiography and 5 have experience and understanding of other cardiac imaging modalities namely MRI CT and PET.
We especially welcome applicants with clinical echocardiography experience leadership experience in managing complex clinical operations with a track record of clinical research in cardiac imaging.
